ELIMINATION OF DAMP

Because of their physical characteristics and thinness, “POLYDROS” cellular glass plates are particularly suitable for avoiding and/or eliminating damp, both from condensation and capillary effect.

“POLYDROS” cellular glass does the following:

  • It creates a steam barrier avoiding concealed condensation.
  • It removes condensation damp in saturated environments, poorly insulated areas or those inadequately insulated.
  • It avoids rising damp.
  • It is easy to install.

Installation

It is recommended in the first instance to clean the area affected by the damp. The “POLYDROS” cellular glass plates are then fitted, according to the following recommendations:

A). For condensation damp. With standard building plaster mortar, known popularly as “cement plaster” or “rough plaster”, taking care that there is no plaster left on the seals. A cement plaster final finish 1 cm thick is applied

B). For rising damp on walls. Bituminised emulsion (not bituminised paint) is used, mixed between 5% and 10% of volume with powdered grey cement. Once the plates are installed, the same mix of bituminised emulsion and powdered cement is applied to the seals with a spatula. Finally, a 1 cm thick cement plaster dressing is applied: the plaster must not touch the floor. The final finish is made with fine or white plaster roughcast (YF or YF/L).
